PRESS RELEASE ON THE NEET EXAM PAPER LEAKAGE

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) strongly condemns the NEET exam paper leakage, which has gravely undermined the integrity of one of India’s most important national examinations. The incident, part of a disturbing series of paper leaks under the National Testing Agency (NTA), reflects the connivance of corrupt and vested interests who are least sensitive to the concerns of students.  This betrayal of trust has shattered the dreams of more than 22 lakh aspiring candidates, causing immense distress, mental trauma, increasing uncertainty and utter confusion amongst the students and their family members who already endure significant financial and emotional struggles. Such repeated leakages inevitably erode confidence in the examination system and jeopardize the future of countless young minds, an act that amounts to grave injustice with nation’s aspiring youth. Since Modi Government’s push for centralization has only resulted in the mushrooming of numerous exam mafias across different parts of the country, the exams must be conducted in a decentralized manner so as to ensure transparency and accountability.

It is worth noting that the five individuals arrested so far by the CBI include a local BJP youth wing leader from Sikar (Rajasthan) - Mr. Dinesh Biwal and his brother, Mangilal Biwal, who are suspected to have played a pivotal role in an interstate network that circulated the medical entrance examination question paper before the May 3 test. Shockingly, the BJP-led State Government attempted to suppress the incident and deliberately avoided registering an FIR earlier on, a clear instance of providing a shield to those involved. AIDWA strongly condemns this kind of blatant protection extended to the paper leak mafia by the BJP government, thus encouraging organized corruption under its rule.

AIDWA feels that the repeated paper leak occurrences and malpractices point towards deep systemic flaws within the NTA and demands that it be dissolved immediately. As was done earlier, the responsibility of conducting entrance examinations should be handed back to the concerned government agencies to restore credibility and public trust. The young minds constitute the future of the nation and no Government or agency can be permitted to play with the prospects of our next generation. Any compromise in safeguarding their dreams and aspirations is unacceptable and must be met with stringent accountability.

AIDWA demands that the NTA be disbanded and that a credible government agency take charge of conducting entrance examinations. Accountability must be firmly established over recurring lapses, and rigorous punishment should be ensured for those found guilty. To restore faith among the youth, there is an urgent need for a strong guarantee of their interests through transparent and credible redressal measures. Only decisive action and exemplary deterrent measures against all rackets and mafias involved with entrance exams can safeguard the future of young minds and uphold the integrity of the nation’s education system.
