The All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) congratulates the women of Kerala for the success of the historic Women's Wall on January 1. This Women's Wall extended for nearly 650 Km from Kasargod in the north to Thiruvananthapuram in the south.

The determination with which women came out to defend the legacy of  progressive  values of social justice and equal rights to women was unprecedented.

The participation of 55 lakh women on this occasion is a strong rebuff to the communal propaganda of the RSS-BJP. They have tried to mislead the people of Kerala under the garb of tradition and create polarisation on the Sabrimala temple entry issue.

The Supreme Court judgement which allowed entry to women of all ages into the Sabarimala temple was welcomed by various sections. The RSS-BJP opposed the entry of women. The Congress in Kerala opportunistically backed the RSS-BJP campaign.

The LDF state government of Kerala defended the Supreme Court verdict giving equal rights to women in the Sabrimala temple.

More than 176 renaissance organisations took part in this historic Women's Wall. The AIDWA and many other organisations played a leading role throughout the state.

AIDWA condemns the cowardly attack and stone pelting by the Sangh Parivar goons on the  Women's Wall at Chettukundu, Kasargod. They resorted to these terror tactics to frighten the participating women. But the massive success of the Women's Wall clearly shows that the women in Kerala did not get cowed down by such bullies.
